Tomato Price Surge: Rate Reduced To ₹80 Per Kg

Delhi/Hyderabad, July 16 (Maxim News):  Tomatoes are very important in food.  In the recent past, the price of these has also increased so much that the common man is struggling.  With this, the Central government took a step forward and took measures to reduce the prices of these.

As a result, tomatoes have become available to the common man at the rate of Rs. 80 per kg in the States of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.  Tomatoes are going to be available at reduced prices in the rest of the country from Monday.

According to an official of the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs,  Food, and Public Distribution on Sunday, the price of tomatoes has come down due to the measures taken by the Central government.  The Central government has arranged to sell tomatoes at a subsidized price in the wake of the huge increase in the prices of tomatoes in various parts of the country.

After reviewing the situation in more than 500 areas of the country, it has arranged to sell tomatoes at Rs. 80 per kg from Sunday.

The National Consumer Cooperative Federation (NCCF), and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) currently sell tomatoes in more than 500 locations in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Patna.  Tomato sales centers were opened in Delhi, Noida, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Patna, Muzaffarpur, etc. Such centers will be opened in more cities from Monday.

The Government directed the NCCP and NAFED to buy tomatoes from the producing states and supply them to the consuming centers at a reasonable price.

It is known that the prices of tomatoes are touching the sky for almost a month.  Farmers say that the crop yield has decreased due to a lack of rain.  (Maxim News)
