Hyderabad, August 23: Police have registered a case against Mallareddy University management and the event manager after a safety incident at the pre release event of Yash starrer Toxic in Hyderabad.
The incident occurred on Saturday night during the promotional event at the university. A large number of students and fans attended the programme.
As the crowd increased, some youths climbed onto floodlight poles and iron structures fixed to large sound boxes. The extra weight reportedly caused a pole carrying a heavy sound box to fall.
Two youths suffered injuries in the incident. Police immediately shifted them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred while actor Yash was speaking on stage. He stopped his speech after noticing the falling structure and expressed concern about the people near the spot.
Yash asked whether everyone was safe and urged those climbing lighting stands and microphone poles to come down immediately. His response helped draw attention to the safety risk during the event.
Toxic Event Case Focuses on Safety and Crowd Control
Police said the case concerns alleged negligence and failure to follow basic safety measures. The Pet Basheerabad police registered the case against the university management and the event manager.
The police are examining the arrangements made for the event. They are also assessing whether the organisers followed required safety and crowd control measures.
The incident occurred at a high profile film event that attracted thousands of attendees. Such gatherings require adequate crowd management and secure temporary structures.
Meanwhile, police are collecting information about the circumstances that led to the pole falling. They are also examining the event arrangements and other available evidence.
The incident has raised concerns about safety arrangements at large promotional programmes. Organisers must ensure that lighting structures, sound equipment and temporary installations remain secure throughout such events.
The police investigation will establish the specific lapses, if any, and determine responsibility based on the evidence collected.
Toxic is one of Yash’s most anticipated films after the success of the KGF franchise. The Hyderabad event had drawn significant attention from his fans and students.
The case now puts the focus on the safety standards followed during the event. Further details are expected after the police complete their investigation.
