Hyderabad, Nov.22 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday passed stay on the Union Home Ministry’s order canceling Indian citizenship to TRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh. The court posted the case for four weeks for next hearing.
It may be mentioned here that the Union Home Ministry had cancelled the Indian citizenship of Chennamaneni Ramesh a few days ago citing fake documents.
Chennamaneni’s advocate argued before the Court that the Centre did not take High Court’s previous orders and canceled his citizenship. The respondent’s counsel contended that Indian citizenship will be granted to a person only if he or she lived in the country for 12 months continuously. Chennamaneni’s rival argued that the petitioner got citizenship without living in the country for a year.
After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the High Court made it clear that it would take all the related issues into consideration and adjourned the hearing to December 16. (Maxim News)
