TS Preferred Investment Destinations For OEMs: KTR

Hyderabad, Dec.4 (Maxim News): CII Telangana organised “Defence Conclave” with the theme “Advantage Telangana: Examining Transformations & Exploring Opportunities” here today.

Delivering inaugural address, Industry & Commerce, MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao, said Defence and Aerospace is one of the most important sectors in Telangana. The conducive ecosystem with the presence of Defence Labs, private players and over 1,000 SMEs in the sector and availability of skilled manpower add to advantage of Telangana. The progressive policies, collaborative efforts between the Industry and government make Telangana one of the preferred investment destinations for the OEMs of world.

The Minister stressed the need to improve indigenous production capabilities and raise the bar over geopolitical issues and look at strategic advantage for investments in the Defence & Aerospace Sector. A Defence corridor between Hyderabad and Bengaluru would be ideal and would add to the strategic advantage, he said. He also stressed the need to reduce dependence on imports.

Krishna Bodanapu, CII Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Cyient Limited spoke about the value chain for the Defence & Aerospace industry i.e Design, Manufacturing, Maintenance and training. Telangana is the only state which has significant capability on all the four areas of the value chain, he said.

Rudra Jadeja, Chief Executive Officer, Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems Pvt. Ltd, spoke on the need to have more indigenous content and IP from country. Raminder Singh Soin, Managing Director, Skyquad Electronics & Appliances P Ltd said India is the one of the large arms importer in the world and the technology in the country needs to be developed so that our dependence on imports are reduced. Soin said CII’s Defence Division works very closely with the Armed Forces, Ministry of Defence, Defence Research and Development Organizations and Defence PSUs, OFB in steering policy formulation, defence market development and trade promotion.

D Raju, Chairman, CII Telangana & CEO & MD, Kirby Building Systems & Structures India P Ltd also spoke. Hyderabad being a seismically safe location had been a preferred destination for defence & aerospace establishments in the country, he said. Raju also urged the defence manufacturing companies to imbibe emerging manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing, Blockchain and Advanced Analytics to optimize operations.

Ashok Atluri, Chairman & Managing Director, Zen Technologies Ltd said they are capable of designing world class manufacturing products from Hyderabad. A CII – EY Report on “Quality Standards in Aerospace & Defence” was released at the Conclave. The Report seeks to highlight the global aerospace and defence standards accepted worldwide and laid out by international organizations and the role such organisations take up in publishing of standards. The Report also gives an overview of the Indian Certification bodies and the role played by them. (Maxim News)
