TSCBOA urges DGP Anjani Kumar for centralised permission for contract carriage buses

Hyderabad, May 24: The Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) has requested Director General of Police Anjani Kumar to centralize the permission for buses operating as contract carriage transport within the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) limits.

Led by its president Syed Nizamuddin, a delegation of TSCBOA leaders, submitted a representation to DGP Anjani Kumar highlighting the pressing issue faced by operators in obtaining separate permissions from the three police Commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda.

They informed the DGP that the TSCBOA had successfully appealed for centralised police permission from the three Commissionerates, streamlining the process and establishing a nodal office in Hyderabad City. However, the recent decision by the new Additional Commissioner of Police Traffic Hyderabad City to revert to the previous system has caused considerable inconvenience and resource drain for the operators. Each permission request requires an extensive submission of over 120 pages of documents, consuming significant manpower, time, and resources, they said.

Adding to the challenges, Syed Nizamuddin said that the Commissionerates have adopted a cautious approach, with each insisting on waiting for the others to grant permission before doing so themselves. The Commissionerates are also demanding separate agreements with IT companies, often containing confidential information that cannot be openly shared. Further, not all IT firms sign separate agreements. He said that the operators have already obtained district-wise permits for Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, along with payment of road taxes accordingly. Therefore, it is only logical that these operators be granted a police permit covering all three Commissionerates, he demanded.

Stressing the need for centralisation and digitisation of the permission process, the TSCBOA leaders said that many operators serve passengers attending national and international events or those working in the IT sector, often held at venues such as the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). Since these journeys frequently traverse the jurisdictions of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda police Commissionerates, a centralised permission system would not only alleviate the burden on operators but also contribute to the growth of tourism in the city, they said.

DGP Anjani Kumar referred the matter to Additional DGP Sanjay Kumar Jain who assured the TSCBOA leaders that he would try to resolve the matter in one week. (Maxim News)
