TSRTC Deployed 950 Special Buses In The City To Clear Dussehra Rush
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on Saturday deployed 950 special buses to clear the ongoing Dasara rush. On Friday too, TSRTC deployed around 744 special buses of the 798 planned. The majority of the extra buses were deputed for traffic going towards the Warangal region, said officials.
“It’s been a major day for the corporation, as in the morning we operated nearly 450 of the planned 950 buses. The patronage for TSRTC buses has been strong this time,” said a senior TSRTC official.
These special buses were assigned to various areas in Vizag, Nandyala and Kadapa, among many others.
The demand for RTC buses increased in the wake of private travel companies charging double the fare for key routes like Vijayawada, Bengaluru and Vizag on Saturday and Sunday.
For instance, most buses to Vijayawada, which usually charge 600-800, are now charging 1,200. For Vizag, it is now 2,200 and upwards as against the normal fares of 1,000-1,500, while the bus fares from Bengaluru to Hyderabad were around 2,000-2,500, as against the usual fare of 1,000-1,500.
The rush is expected to continue on Sunday as well as the main festivities slated for Monday and Tuesday. TSRTC is planning to depute 1,000 buses from Tuesday onwards for passengers planning to return to the city from their native places.
