Tungabhadra gate launch | Hyderabad, June 25: A rare political and administrative meeting took place in Karnataka’s Hospet on Thursday ahead of the inauguration of the newly installed gates at the Tungabhadra project, with the Chief Ministers of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka coming together along with Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil.
The meeting was held at the IRB guest house before the formal launch of the new gates at the Tungabhadra dam. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Union Minister C.R. Patil attended the meeting.
Sources said the leaders discussed issues related to inter state water sharing, management of water resources projects and coordination among the three states. The meeting has drawn attention as it comes in the backdrop of the Tungabhadra dam gate washout incident and the urgent work taken up to replace the damaged gates.

Senior Andhra Pradesh ministers also joined the meeting. State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav and Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu were present during the discussions.
The newly installed gates were completed on a war footing after one of the Tungabhadra dam gates was washed away earlier, triggering concern over irrigation and water storage in the region. The inauguration of the new gates is seen as a key step in restoring confidence among farmers and residents in the command area.
The meeting among the three states has also sparked interest in political circles and among people living in the Tungabhadra basin, as the project remains crucial for irrigation and water supply across parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
