Two Brothers Donate Rs. 3.50 Lakh to LVPEI
Hyderabad: Two brothers – Suhrit Padakanti and Sudhit Padakanti, Class 12 and Class 8 students at Chirec International – have donated Rs. 3.50 lakh to LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) to support eye-health research and for eye operations for the poor.
The institute also named an eye examination room at LVPEI Secondary Centre, Siddipet, after the brothers’ late grandfather Sudarshan Padakanti, upon the request of the two.
The brothers who have been involved in social work by way of providing meals to the needy, conducting free home tuitions and more, have been doing so with the help of their parents Padakanti Srinivasa Rao and Aparna Padakanti. “Vision loss has a massive impact on quality of life but fortunately, 75 per cent of vision loss can be avoided with effective interventions,” said Suhrit.
Dr. Sayan Basu of LVPEI thanked the young boys for their support and said the funds will be used for Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) research at LVPEI.
