Two New Judges To The High Court Of Telangana

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (Maxim News): The supreme Collegium has recommended the transfer of two judges to the Telangana High Court to the Central government. It includes Justice Sujaypal, who is serving as a judge in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, and Justice Mousami Bhattacharya, who is serving in the Kolkata High Court.

A collegium comprising Chief Justice Chandrachud, Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, Justice Suryakant, and Justice Aniruddha Bose said that the decision was taken on the pleas of Justice Sujaypal to transfer him as his son is an Advocate in the Madhya Pradesh High Court and Justice Mousami Bhattacharya to transfer her to another High Court for personal reasons.  

In the interest of the administration of justice, it is recommended to transfer both of them to the Telangana High Court. Along with these two, the collegium recommended that Justice Anusivaraman, a judge of the Kerala High Court, be transferred to the Karnataka High Court.

Justice Sjaypal is third in seniority in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Born on June 21, 1964, he started his career as a lawyer in 1990. Practiced in Madhya Pradesh High Court. Appointed as Additional judge on May 27, 2011. Promoted as Permanent Judge on April 14, 2014.

Justice Mousami Bhattacharya is 16th in terms of seniority in the Kolkata High Court.  Born on October 27, 1967. She was enrolled as an Advocate in the West Bengal Bar Council in 1997. Argued cases in Kolkata, Delhi, Patna, joint Andhra Pradesh High Court and Supreme Court. Arguments have also been heard in cases related to the Company Labor Board, DRT, SEBI, Copyright Board, Intellectual Property Appellate Board, and Securities Appellate Board. Appointed as Additional judge of Kolkata High Court on September 21, 2017. Promoted as Permanent Judge on September 16, 2019.
