Umeed Portal: Waqf Board Speeds Up Digital Registration

  • Board member flags hurdles, seeks six-month extension
  • Mutawallis told to act as ‘Makers’, ensure accurate uploads
  • Waqf Board member seeks six-month extension

Umeed Portal | Hyderabad, Oct 22 (Maxim News): Maulana Abul Fatah Syed Bandagi Badshah Qadri, Member of the Telangana State Waqf Board and Sajjada Nashin-cum-Mutawalli of Balkonda Sharif, appealed to all Mutawallis and custodians to register complete details of Waqf properties on the Umeed Portal without fail.

He said the registration mandated under the Waqf (Amendment) Act is an extremely challenging and time-consuming task and completing it transparently will require more time.

He noted that the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs has directed Sajjadanashins, Mutawallis, and managing committee heads to compulsorily upload all Waqf property details.

He explained that for properties directly administered by the Waqf Board, the Board itself will act as the “Maker.”

However, for independently managed institutions, Mutawallis must voluntarily register as “Makers” and upload accurate and complete details of their properties. He emphasised that Mutawallis will be personally responsible for the accuracy and correctness of the data submitted.

He expressed hope that all Mutawallis will promptly upload the required information and supporting documents.

Maulana Bandagi Badshah, however, expressed serious concern over the lack of enthusiasm among Mutawallis in completing the upload process.

He reiterated that registration on the Umeed Portal is mandatory and that negligence or delay will not be tolerated. He lamented that attempts to obtain a stay against the Waqf (Amendment) Act failed, wasting nearly four months, and said only 40 days remain to upload details of lakhs of properties—“a nearly impossible feat” in such a short span.

Umeed Portal

Maulana Badshah also pointed out that the portal is still being upgraded and that many Mutawallis and managers could not upload details due to time constraints.

He added that several mandals did not appear on the portal until early October, when that technical glitch was resolved. Considering these issues, he urged the Telangana government to ask the Centre for at least a six-month extension from October to complete the registration.

Under the Act, he advised that all State Waqf Boards take a collective stand and approach the Waqf Tribunal jointly to seek an official extension, since the Tribunal is legally empowered to grant it.

Maulana Bandagi Badshah welcomed the re appointment of CEO Mohd Asadullah in the Waqf Board and said Mutawallis are hopeful this will speed up resolution of pending matters.

He noted that the government has begun training sessions for District Waqf Inspectors to build awareness of the Umeed Portal’s functionality, calling it a positive step.

Umeed Portal: Appeal to all Waqifin and Mutawallis

He urged all Waqifin and Mutawallis to set aside differences and work with unity and integrity to ensure accurate uploads of all properties, with timely payment of Waqf funds and clear documentation of services, community participation, custodians’ roles, and properties under Waqf By-Users.

He asked Mutawallis to immediately inform the CEO if district-level issues arise.

In conclusion, Maulana Qadri reminded that Waqf properties exist to fulfill the founders’ original charitable intent (Mansha-e-Waqf). Therefore, preserving their integrity and ensuring transparent documentation is the moral and legal duty of every custodian.
