Unmarried Girl Delivers In Washroom And Tries To Kill The Infant By Drowning Him In Bucket

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old mother drowned her newborn baby in a bucket of water after delivering the boy in bathroom of a private hospital at Gachibowli on Monday.

According to police, G. Hemaja joined the hospital on Sunday with an advanced pregnancy. However, she delivered a baby boy in the bathroom. It could have been on either deliberate effort or by accident. As the baby was born of a premarital affair, she wanted to kill the baby by drowning him in a bucket full of water.

A staff nurse Krishnamma heard the cries of a newborn and started searching for the baby along with two other nurses. They found the mother and toddler in the hospital bathroom and informed the police.

“The woman could have been seven to eight months pregnant due to premarital affair and delivered the baby in the washroom. She was admitted in the hospital and was reported to be unconscious,” said Raidurgam inspector D. Durga Prasad.

Police registered a murder case against Hemaja. She is graduated in physiotherapy and had worked as a lab technician on contract for a year at the Bhadrachalam Government Hospital.
