Hyderabad, April 18: Donald Trump said the US will take Iran uranium as part of any future agreement. He made the remarks while addressing a public event in Phoenix, Arizona.
Trump said the US would seek control of uranium linked to Iran’s nuclear programme. He added that the move could be part of a broader peace understanding between the two sides.
However, Iran has rejected the proposal. Officials in Iran said they would not hand over enriched uranium under any circumstances.
Trump outlines stance on Iran uranium in deal
Trump says US will take Iran uranium in any deal also included comments on past actions. He referred to earlier US strikes on nuclear related facilities.
Moreover, he said pressure would continue on Tehran regarding its nuclear stockpile. He claimed there are parties willing to assist in securing the material.
At the same time, Trump ruled out any financial exchange in a potential agreement. He said the focus would remain on strategic and security concerns.
The remarks have added to ongoing tensions between the US and Iran over nuclear issues.
