Uttam meets Krishna Madiga in Chanchalguda Jail

• TPCC chief condemns the arrest of MRPS chief
• Accuses KCR regime of violating human rights
• Warns TRS Govt of mass agitation if cases not withdrawn

Hyderabad, January 16 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday met MRPS chief Manda Krishna Madiga and described his detention as illegal and an attempt by TRS Government to suppress the human rights of Dalits.

Speaking to media persons after meeting the MRPS leader in jail, Uttam Kumar Reddy slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for suppressing the voice of Krishna Madiga who is agitating for categorisation of SCs. He reminded that the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh Assembly and present Telangana Assembly have passed resolutions seeking categorisation of SCs. He reminded that when a Dalit woman Bharathi died during a protest at Hyderabad Collectorate on November 6, the Chief Minister had made a statement in Legislative Assembly assuring that he would take an all-party delegation to Delhi. When KCR did nothing even after two months, Krishna Madiga tried to organise a protest. But he was illegally arrested and sent to jail. After his release, he was denied permission to organise hunger strike anywhere in Hyderabad. When he wanted to sit on hunger strike at his residence, he was arrested again. “Do people have no rights in KCR’s Bangaru Telangana?” he asked.

“Krishna Madiga was arrested twice and still kept in jail just because he wanted to hold protest on SC categorisation issue. In Nerella incident, Dalits were brutally tortured and implicated in false cases. Girijans of Khammam were handcuffed and chained for asking remunerative prices for their chilli crops. Does Dalits, Girijans, BCs and minorities have no human rights in Telangana State? They are being booked under serious offences like treachery even for intending to organise protest on legitimate issues,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said. He also condemned the behaviour of some police officials and asked them to act per law and not as per the instructions of political bosses. He said policemen showing political inclinations would face serious legal consequences in future.

The TPCC chief said that the Congress leaders have also met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and apprised him of the situation. However, even after one week, Krishna Madiga’s bail petition is being opposed by the State Government.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress leaders also met TDP leader Pratap Reddy in Chanchalguda Jail. He said Pratap Reddy, who had contested against KCR from Gajwel in 2014 elections, had come to Osmania University on hearing the news of suicide of Murali Mudiraj as he hailed from same Dowlapur village of Jagdevpur mandal. But Pratap Reddy was brutally beaten up by the police and implicated in a false case. After his release on bail, he was again arrested and implicated in sections like Attempt to Murder. “Pratap Reddy is being punished for trying to console the family of OU students Murali Mudiraj who belonged to the same village. KCR is resorting to political vendetta,” he alleged.

The TPCC chief alleged that the KCR regime is proving to be a ‘police rajyam’ where human rights were being openly violated. Accusing TRS Government of working against the true spirit of democracy, he said that the Congress party would not remain silent on these human rights violation and make it a national issue. He demanded that the State Government immediately release Krishna Madiga and other MPRS activists and withdraw all the cases registered against them. He also demanded that the Chief Minister take an all-party delegation to Delhi to find a solution to SC categorisation issue. He also asked the government to withdraw cases against OU students and other leaders who were arrested after the suicide of Murali Mudiraj.

Congress MLA A. Sampath Kumar, ex-minister D. Sridhar Babu, ex-MP Dr. Mallu Ravi, ex-MLC Malla Reddy Rangareddy, Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav, TPCC General Secretary Venugopal and other leaders were also present. (Maxim News)
