Uttam pledges comprehensive farmer-centric agenda, refutes false allegations
Hyderabad, November 18: Congress MP and Huzurnagar candidate Capt N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday outlined the Congress party‘s farmer-centric agenda, emphasizing the party’s commitment to implementing a range of transformative measures to uplift the lives of farmers and revitalize the agricultural sector.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the next Congress government would waive off crop loans of farmers up to Rs 2 lakh, providing much-needed financial relief to alleviate the burden of indebtedness. He further announced the introduction of interest-free crop loans up to Rs 3 lakh, ensuring easy access to capital for farmers to invest in their agricultural endeavors. Additionally, Reddy pledged financial support of Rs 15,000 per acre per annum to farmers and assured uninterrupted free power for 24 hours.
Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized that the Congress government would implement a comprehensive crop insurance scheme for all major crops, providing farmers with a crucial safeguard against crop losses due to natural calamities.
He underscored that these promises were not mere election-time gimmicks but had been a cornerstone of the Congress party’s manifesto since its release by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday. Reddy reiterated that these commitments had been conveyed directly to farmers across Telangana State through the Raithu Rachabanda/Rythu Bharosa Yatra, which was initiated following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s release of the Rythu Declaration in Warangal on May 6, 2023.
In a strong rebuttal to allegations made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Ministers K Tarakarama Rao, and Harish Rao, Uttam Kumar Reddy categorically denied demanding the discontinuation of the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He accused the BRS trio of spreading false propaganda and deliberately misconstruing his statements. Reddy clarified that he had only demanded the timely release of Rythu Bandhu payments to beneficiaries before the election notification. He asserted that his stance was solely aimed at ensuring that farmers received the benefits they were entitled to without any unwarranted delays.
Reaffirming the Congress party’s deep-rooted commitment to the agricultural sector, Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted its historical contributions to farmer welfare. He recalled the party’s pioneering role in introducing free electricity for farmers in united Andhra Pradesh, a testament to its unwavering support for the farming community. Reddy further challenged the present BRS government‘s claims of providing 24-hour power supply to farmers, stating that the Congress party would restore a reliable and consistent supply of electricity if elected.
Uttam Kumar Reddy lamented the lack of a crop insurance scheme in Telangana, a critical safeguard for farmers that is available in other states. He pledged to implement a comprehensive crop insurance policy if the Congress party formed the next government. He also condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM KCR, accusing them of neglecting the farmers. He also urged the KCR family to apologize to the people of Telangana before seeking votes. He reiterated the Congress party’s unwavering commitment to farmers’ well-being, asserting that the party would always prioritize the interests of the agricultural community. (Maxim News)
