Hyderabad, April 4 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party would intensify its preparations to face General Election 2019.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday evening, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress would pursue ‘Mission 2019’ in an organised and aggressive manner. He informed that all senior leaders of Telangana Congress had a day-long meeting on Tuesday to discuss various issues of public importance and the failures of TRS Government. He said that the strategy for 2019 general elections was also discussed during the meeting. He said several issues were discussed at length and all leaders came up with suggestions on strengthening the party from grass root level. He said that such meetings would be held at least once in every three months.
The meeting, held at Golcond Hotel, was attended by all senior leaders including K. Jana Reddy, S. Jaipal Reddy, Shabbir Ali, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, T. Jeevan Reddy, G. Chinna Reddy, Ponnala Laxmaiah, Renuka Choudhary, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Palvai Goverdhan reddy, D.Sridhar Babu, Danam Nagender, Ponnam Prabhakar, Balram Naik, V. Hanumanth Rao, P. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress leaders have decided to expose the irregularities in the irrigation tenders called by the TRS Government. He said there were several irregularities in the tenders of other schemes like Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya and they would be exposed. Condemning the behaviour of police, he alleged that the TRS Government was misusing the police force to harass the Congress leaders and workers. He said that the Congress party would launch ‘Jail Bharo’ campaign if the police fail to mend its approach towards opposition parties. Regarding shifting of Dharna Chowk from Indira Park, he said a massive agitation would be launched in consultation with other opposition parties and groups.
The TPCC chief also accused the TRS Government of downplaying the ongoing drinking water crisis in the State. He said several areas in the city and other parts of the State were not getting adequate supply of drinking water. However, the TRS Government is making false claims of supplying water to all the areas.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress leaders have decided to meet the President of India against Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan for allowing induction of defected MLAs as ministers in the cabinet of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. He said by administering oath of office to defected MLAs as ministers, the Governor has openly violated the Constitution. He said an all-party meeting would be convened on the issue to decide future course of action.
He also condemned the TRS Government for its failure to address the issues concerning farmers. Citing an instance, he said that the State Government has miserably failed to help nearly one lakh chilli farmers who were badly hit due to falling prices. He said that there were contradictions in the statements being given by Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Marketing Minister T. Harish Rao. He said both State and Central Governments have been acting as mute spectators as chilli farmers were burning their produce in anger and disappointment. He demanded that the government procure chilli directly from farmers at the rate of Rs. 12,000 per quintal.
Many other issues like non-execution of ITIR project, delay in Metro Rail, non-implementation of promise of providing double bed room housing to poor, fee reimbursement dues and other several other issues were discussed during the meeting.

He also said that the party leaders in about 60-62 Assembly constituencies have been asked to show their performance if they wish to seek party ticket in 2019 elections.
