Veteran actor Arvind Trivedi is no more

October 5: Veteran Actor Arvind Trivedi, who is best known for his portrayal of Raavan in Ramayan, died yesterday night following a heart attack. He was 82.

Arvind’s Ramayan co-star Sunil Lahiri shared a picture of the late actor and wrote on Instagram early Wednesday, “Bahut dukhad Samachar hai ki Hamare Sabke Pyare Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) Ab Hamare bich Nahin Rahe Bhagwan Unki Atma ko Shanti De (This is a very sad news. Our dear Arvind Bhai is no longer with us. May God bring peace to his soul). I am speechless I lost father figure my guide well wisher and gentleman.”

An report said the actor was unwell and was even unable to walk. It quoted Arvind’s nephew Kaustubh Trivedi as saying, “Uncle was unwell for past few years. Things only worsened over the past three years. He had to be admitted to the hospital a few times.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the death of actors Ghanashyam Nayak and Arvind Trivedi. Nayak was known for his role in popular TV serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

Mr. Modi tweeted, “In the last few days, we have lost two talented actors who won the hearts of people through their works. Shri Ghanashyam Nayak will be remembered for his multifaceted roles, most notably in the popular show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.’ He was also extremely kind and humble”.

“We have lost Shri Arvind Trivedi, who was not only an exceptional actor but also was passionate about public service. For generations of Indians, he will be remembered for his work in the Ramayan TV serial. Condolences to the families and admirers of both actors. Om Shanti.”

‘Ramayan’ fame

A host of celebrities including his co-stars from Ramayan took to social media and mourned Arvind Trivedi’s demise.

Actor Dipika Chikhalia, who essayed the role of Sita in Ramayan, wrote, “My heartfelt condolences to his family …a very fine human being #arvindtrivedi #ravan.” Actor Sunil Lahri, seen in the role of Lakshman in Ramayan, said he was deeply saddened by the news as he has lost a dear friend and a well-wisher.

“There is very sad news for all of us. Our beloved Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) is no more with us. May his soul rest in peace. …I am speechless. I lost a father figure, my guide, well wisher & gentleman.” Arvind Trivedi also served as the chief of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) from 2002-2003.
