Vidyasagar Rao Vows To Protect Telugu Language

Hyderabad, Feb.21 (Maxim News): Maharashtra former governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao said no individual could become an intellectual if he doesn’t speak in ancient Telugu language. He said he would work hard to protect Telugu language till his last breath.

Addressing a gathering here on the occasion of International Mother Tongue Day, he said Bangladesh was formed as it protects its mother tongue. Citing that Telugu language has been conferred with “ancient language status”, he called upon the people of the State to protect their mother tongue.

Advisor to the State government Ramanachari said the International Mother Tongue Day has been instituted by the UNESCO to protect all the dying languages of the world. Although it is widely said English language would bring jobs, he said several people had become IAS officers by writing their examinations in Telugu. He said the mother tongue would not only increase the capacity to understand a subject, but also help in increasing awareness levels on any issue. (Maxim News)
