Vijayawada terror investigation: Raids expose suspected terror links to Hyderabad

Vijayawada terror investigation | Vijayawada/Hyderabad, March 25: Counter Intelligence teams carried out sudden raids in Vinchipeta area of Vijayawada. They acted on specific intelligence inputs about suspected terror activity.

Police found that some youths used social media to support extremist groups. Following this input, officers detained three suspects. Their names are Mohammed Rahmatullah, Danish and Sohail Baig.

Police produced them in court. The court granted custody. Officers then started questioning them. During questioning, they found possible links to Hyderabad.

At the same time, Hyderabad Counter Intelligence teams acted on new clues. They arrested Syeda Begum. Officers are now questioning her at Two Town Police Station.

Investigators suspect she helped the group. They believe she played an important role. So far, officers have found key connections through her.

Police also found a social media group. The suspects created it on Instagram. They named it “Al Malik Islamic Youth.”

Officers say the group helped members stay in touch. Sohail Baig, Danish and Shareef were part of it. Around 12 members joined the group.

Police also found links to other states. These include West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Bihar, Maharashtra and Delhi.

Right now, teams are searching for other suspects. Police are looking for Dilkash from Bihar. Meanwhile, intelligence teams increased surveillance.

Earlier case raised suspicion

In June 2025, Gujarat ATS arrested three suspects in another case. After that arrest, this group became careful. Members tried to avoid police attention.

However, intelligence teams kept watch. This helped officers track the network. Police continue the investigation. Officers expect more details soon. They may make more arrests.
