A man from Vikarabad district is fighting for his life after being set ablaze by his daughter and son-in-law over a land dispute. The incident took place at Yalal mandal on Thursday when the victim, identified as 52-year-old Kumuri Krishna, allegedly refused to transfer his agricultural land to his daughter.
According to the police, Krishna lived at Yalal mandal in Vikarabad district. A few years ago, he had married his daughter Anita to Arjun Pawar, a resident of Gulbarga district in Karnataka. After their marriage, the couple began residing at Gulbarga. However, Anita recently returned to her father’s home, demanding that he transfer two acres of family land in her name.
Krishna reportedly denied the request, explaining that he depended on the land for his livelihood. The dispute grew more intense over the past few weeks. On Thursday, an argument once again broke out between Krishna and his daughter. Police said that in a sudden act of rage, Anita, along with her husband Arjun, poured fuel on Krishna and set him on fire.
“On Thursday an argument ensued between Krishna and his daughter over the issue. In a fit of rage, Anita and Arjun doused Krishna with fuel and set him ablaze. He suffered severe burns and was rushed to Hyderabad hospital for treatment,” said Yalal police station sub inspector, Vittal Reddy.
The victim is currently under treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, police at Yalal have registered a case against the accused couple. An investigation is underway to determine the full details and motive behind the violent act. Officials said stricter legal action will follow once the medical condition of the victim stabilizes.
