The case involves the unauthorized and fraudulent extraction of data from original physical files into electronic form, marking a major security breach within the Board’s top office.

According to officials, the complaint was filed by Mohammed Asif Khan, Tahsildar and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Telangana Waqf Board, seeking action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

FIR Registered Under BNS, Cyber and Physical Probe Underway

The Abids police registered the FIR on October 24 after Khan submitted a reminder to the Station House Officer, referencing his earlier complaint from August 7, 2025.

The letter stated that despite an earlier submission, no FIR had been registered for months.

Waqf Board Complaint

The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner’s office had endorsed the complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, on August 18 for further action.

The complaint accuses unidentified individuals of maliciously and fraudulently stealing confidential Waqf Board files by converting them into digital formats.

Officials describe the case as a deliberate act of data theft rather than a procedural error.

Following the latest reminder, Sub-Inspector S. Thirumalesh Yadav of Abids Police Station registered Crime No. 261/2025 under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The case has been handed over to Sub-Inspector Naini Gourender Goud for investigation.

Investigators are now examining how the original documents were accessed and converted into electronic form, and by whom.

The probe will include both physical and cyber aspects to trace the data source, possible internal involvement, and any digital trail.
