WATCH | 20 Dead, 24 Injured in Bus Accident in Rangareddy
Hyderabad, Nov 3: In a tragic road accident, at least 20 people were killed and 24 others injured when a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus collided with a concrete-laden truck in Rangareddy district on Monday morning.
The fatal crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. on the Hyderabad–Bijapur National Highway, near Mirzaguda village in Chevella mandal.
According to police, the TGSRTC bus was travelling from Tandur to Hyderabad when it was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the truck’s entire load of gravel and concrete slabs toppled onto the bus, trapping many passengers inside.
Eyewitnesses said several passengers were buried under the debris following the collision. Thirteen passengers, along with the drivers of both the bus and the truck, died on the spot.
The bus was reportedly carrying around 70 passengers. Rescue teams, assisted by locals, rushed to the site and pulled out the trapped passengers. Three JCB machines were deployed to clear the wreckage.
The injured were shifted to the Chevella government hospital, where at least three victims are in critical condition. Heart-rending scenes were witnessed as rescue workers struggled to free those crying for help from the mangled remains of the bus.
CM Revanth Reddy And Minister Reacts
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and directed officials to reach the spot immediately and oversee rescue operations.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also ordered the transport department to ensure all necessary relief and provide the best possible medical care to the injured.
This is the second major road accident in the Telugu states in less than 10 days. On October 24, 20 passengers were charred to death when a private bus caught fire after hitting a motorbike near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, while en route to Bengaluru from Hyderabad.
