Hyderabad, Sept. 10 (Maxim News): The Jamia Nizamia land issue rocked the Telangana Assembly as AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi raised concerns over Waqf properties.
Owaisi questioned the management and protection of historic Waqf assets in the state.
He specifically referred to Jamia Nizamia while raising concerns over properties allegedly lost through government auctions.
He also raised several issues linked to Haj pilgrims and minority welfare. Owaisi said the Chief Minister had promised ₹10,000 for each Haj pilgrim.
However, he claimed that many pilgrims who had already returned had not received the promised amount. He attributed the delay to procedural issues and sought clarity from the government.
Owaisi also questioned the status of payments for food expenses during Haj. He asked the government to explain the pending payments and the process for their release.
Jamia Nizamia Land Issue Highlights Waqf Concerns
The AIMIM leader also raised concerns about Rubaats in Mecca and Medina. He said families from Hyderabad had historically endowed these pilgrim shelters as Waqf properties.
Owaisi suggested that compensation received from Waqf properties should support Telangana pilgrims. He proposed using such funds to develop new accommodation facilities.
He then questioned the management of the Haj House in Hyderabad. Owaisi raised concerns over rent payments to the Telangana Waqf Board.
He also criticised the condition and maintenance of the facility. In addition, he questioned plans to lease nearby properties.
Owaisi suggested alternative uses for those properties. He cited minority schools, health centres and orphanages as possible options.
The AIMIM leader also criticised the functioning of the Telangana Waqf Board. He alleged that the board was not holding regular meetings.
While raising the Jamia Nizamia land issue, Owaisi also questioned the loss of historic properties. He said government auctions had affected several important Waqf assets.
He called for stronger oversight of Waqf properties and better institutional management. He also sought greater accountability in the administration of minority welfare assets.
Owaisi concluded by asking Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to convene a dedicated meeting. He said the meeting should address Haj, Waqf and minority welfare concerns.
The Jamia Nizamia land issue therefore formed part of a wider set of concerns raised by Owaisi in the Assembly. His remarks focused on property protection, Haj support and the use of minority welfare resources. (Maxim News)
