We are ready to face Covid third wave : DH

Hyderabad, Dec.30 (Maxim News): The Director of Public Health (DH) of the state Dr. Srinivasa rao today said that their department was completely prepared to face the challenge of the third wave of Covid virus.

Speaking to media persons in the city, he said that the new variant of Covid virus Omicron had spread to 130 countries of the world and added that the cases of the omicron variant of the virus was also increasing rapidly in Telangana . He said that the cases had also gone up in the state since the last three days. He said that the increase in the number of the cases was indication that the third wave of the virus would soon hit the state. He however hastened to state that there was nothing to worry about the virus and added that the state government was prepared to face the virus by basing on the lessons learned from the last two waves of the virus .

He urged the people of the state to not panic about the virus and added that the 90 percent of the omicron affected patients were not displaying any kind of symptoms . He said that those patients exhibiting the symptoms should take care of themselves. He said that there was a possibility that the third wave would hit the state after the upcoming Sankranthi festival. He said that huge gatherings at new year celebrations and Sankranthi festivities would contribute to the onset of the third wave.

He said that there was a threat that the third wave would affect those who already received two mandatory shots of the Covid vaccine. Stating that there is no need to conduct tests on asymptotic patients of the variant and added that the conduct of the tests had been stopped in South Africa . (Maxim News)
