Hyderabad, Sept 13 (Maxim News): Keeping in view that ethanol is being added to reduce the cost of fuel imports in the country. The Center has already clarified the misconceptions among motorists about the use of E20 petrol. However, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has recently announced that isobutanol will be added to diesel instead of ethanol.
Gadkari said that the experiment of mixing ethanol in diesel was not successful and therefore isobutanol was found to be a better alternative. He said that when ethanol was mixed in diesel, engine problems and some technical problems arose. The central government hopes that biofuel mixing will save foreign exchange and provide relief from high fuel bills.
Gadkari recently said that the false propaganda against him on social media on the mixing of ethanol in petrol should continue. Gadkari said that it is a paid campaign sponsored entirely by the petrol lobby. He said that the campaign against E20 fuel is politically motivated. He dismissed the claim that ethanol damages vehicles engines as completely baseless. But some experts say that ethanol causes corrosion and wear of rubber parts in the engines of old vehicles. They say that the mileage is also affected.
The reason for the current desire to add isobutanol to diesel is that it contains more energy than ethanol. It has been found that when mixed with diesel, engine performance improves and pollution is also reduced. Unlike ethanol, isobutanol is also made from crops such as sugarcane and corn. The real problem here is the large-scale production of isobutanol. It seems that factories need new technology to refine it. (Maxim News)
