West Bengal Elections | Hyderabad, April 7 (Maxim News) : All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen released its first list of 12 candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections here on Tuesday.
The announcement came as the party began preparations for the upcoming polls.
The party leadership confirmed the decision after internal discussions. AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi approved the candidate list.
At the same time, the party clarified its election strategy. It decided not to contest in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and Assam. Instead, the focus will remain on West Bengal.
According to the released list, Imran Soanki will contest from Raghunathganj. Meanwhile, Danish Aziz received the ticket from Asansol Uttar. Similarly, Misbahul Islam Khan will represent the party from Kandi.
Rejaul Karim will enter the contest from Sujapur. In addition, Advocate Mohammed Mostahid Haque secured nomination from Mothabari. Party leaders said candidate selection followed local consultations.
Haji Ansar Sk Sab will contest from Nalhati. Likewise, Tasir Sk Sahab will represent the party from Morari. The party said it selected candidates based on grassroots presence. Therefore, local leadership played a key role in the process.

The list also includes Monaem Sardar from Barasat. Mehboob Alam will contest from Karandighi.
Furthermore, Asadul Sk received the ticket from Suti. Shabana Parvin will contest from Basirhat South. Asik Raj Mondal will enter the race from Habra.
Party sources said the selections aim to strengthen the organisation. Moreover, leaders expect the candidates to expand the party base.
The announcement also signals AIMIM’s continued interest in eastern India.
Previously, the party contested elections in several states to widen its presence.
This time, however, the strategy limits contests to select regions. As a result, resources will focus on identified constituencies.
Further candidate lists may follow soon. Party leaders indicated more announcements depending on election schedules. For now, AIMIM has begun campaign planning in the declared seats. (Maxim News)
