When will PM Modi’s Year 2022 arrive? Asks Uttam
Hyderabad, August 17: Congress MP & former TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explain when ‘his year 2022’ would come and when all promises which he promised to fulfil by 2022 would be realised.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, in a media statement, alleged that PM Modi misused the occasion of Independence Day to make fake promises in his customary Address to the Nation from the Red Fort on every occasion in the last eight years. He reminded that in the I-Day speech of 2016, PM Modi had promised to double farmer incomes, ensure a house for everyone and electrification of the entire country by 2022. He said that the BJP Government has failed miserably in achieving its targets.
Disclosing details, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that farmers’ income from cultivation had not increased since 2016. Instead, the input cost has more than doubled in the last eight years while the farmers are still earning an average of only Rs. 27 per day as they did in 2014. He said that crop loss due to natural calamities, fake seeds and fertilizers and the overall losses due to cultivation in the absence of proper MSP for many crops have forced thousands of farmers to commit suicide. While the previous Congress-led UPA Govt waived off crop loans, the present Modi Govt stopped releasing data from the National Crime Records Bureau to hide the figures of farmers’ suicides, he alleged.
The Congress MP said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has emulated PM Modi in cheating the farmers. He did not implement the promise of waiving crop loans and implemented wrong policies to the extent that not a single farmer in Telangana is covered by crop insurance. TRS Govt too is hushing the figures of farmers’ suicides by directing the local police to register suicide by farmers as natural/accidental death, he alleged.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also reminded us that PM Modi, while addressing a meeting in 2018, had promised a house for everyone by 2022. The data available on the website of the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) tells us that not even 50% of 60 lakh sanctioned houses have been completed. “I would humbly request the Prime Minister to specify when his golden year 2022 will arrive and when every deserving family will get a house?” he asked.
He said CM KCR followed PM Modi in promising 2BHK houses for the poor. He said not even 10% of sanctioned 2.75 lakh 2BHK units have been constructed/delivered.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said PM Modi also failed in delivering on the promise of providing basic amenities of drinking water, electricity and toilet for every household. He pointed out that President Draupadi Murmu’s ancestral village Uparbeda in Odisha got electricity for the first time only after she filed her nomination in June this year. As per the data provided in the recently concluded monsoon session of Parliament, only 52% of rural households in the country are getting water supply through taps while almost 80% of Indians are forced to consume ‘poisonous’ water, he said.
The Congress MP said that PM Modi had launched ‘Poshan’ Abhiyan in 2018 to achieve the target of a ‘malnutrition-free India’ by 2022. Instead of having any improvement in the conditions, at least 13 States witnessed a rise in malnutrition cases between 2019-21. Prevalence of anaemia increased by 14.5% among infants and 7.5% among women. Today India ranks 101 out of 116 countries on the Global Hunger Index and it is behind Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said PM Modi cheated the people with hollow, but attractive slogans like ‘Make in India’, ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ and now he is talking about ‘Amrit Kal’ and setting targets for 2047.
He said PM Modi talks about corruption in his speeches. But he remains silent on inaction against the scamsters. He said bank frauds worth Rs. 5.35 lakh crore took place under the BJP Govt. Instead of catching the scamsters like Vijaya Mallaya, Mehul Chowkasi or Neerav Modi, PM Modi is using all the Central agencies like Enforcement Directorate, CBI and Income Tax Department to target political opponents.
The Congress MP alleged that PM Modi has hit a new low by politicising his Independence Day speech by targeting political opponents.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party would expose the failures of the Modi Govt at all levels by launching massive public movements. He said that the common people have understood the hollowness of BJP’s Jumla Sarkar.
He also condemned the release of 11 gang rape and murder convicts by the BJP Govt in Gujarat. “PM Modi spoke about giving respect and honour to women on his Independence Day. A few hours later, BJP Govt in Gujarat released 11 persons who were convicted by courts for gang rape and multiple murders in the Bilquis Bano case of 2002 riots. They were also accorded a grand reception by the RSS and BJP leaders on their release. This is highly shameful and the decision must be reversed,” he demanded. (Maxim News)
