They noted that the Centre recently included electronic, digital and web media in the four new labour codes. They therefore requested that the Telangana media accreditation policy also extend access to digital and web journalists.

The delegation said the lack of implementation of health insurance has harmed rural journalists and asked the government to issue health cards to all eligible members.

Union Urges Governor to Address Long-Pending Journalist Issues

The representatives explained that several districts continue to face unresolved housing site issues affecting journalists.

They said the prolonged delay has denied many families the opportunity to secure their own homes.

WJI asked the Governor to advise the state government to take a timely decision on these matters.

The union also appealed for free metro travel for journalists working in Hyderabad.

They said the benefit would support daily commuters who often travel across the city for news coverage. Additionally, they requested concessions at toll plazas on national highways for accredited journalists.

The delegation further sought faster empanelment of local newspapers through the Information Department. They said many regional publications struggle to sustain operations and require timely government empanelment. They asked for a revised rate card that reflects increased production costs and ensures fair support to eligible newspapers.

The Governor assured the delegation that the concerns raised would be examined through the appropriate administrative channels. (Maxim News)
