Hyderabad: A woman died after an elevator reportedly crashed to the ground at an apartment complex in Chandanagar on Tuesday, following an alleged snapping of the lift cables.
According to preliminary information, the woman was inside the elevator when it suddenly plunged from an upper floor. She sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
Police Probe Cause of Chandanagar Lift Accident
On receiving information, the Chandanagar police rushed to the apartment complex and secured the area. The woman’s body was shifted to a government hospital for post mortem examination.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Officials are examining whether the lift malfunctioned due to a technical fault or whether negligence in maintenance contributed to the fatal incident.
Authorities are also expected to inspect the elevator’s maintenance records and question the apartment management as part of the investigation.
