Officials stated that the Yadagirigutta Temple project uses over 60 kilograms of gold worth Rs 21 crore. Devotees donated the gold to the temple. The gold plating work began in November 2024 under the supervision of a Chennai based company. They said the company is fixing gold plates to the copper sheets on the Gopuram. Meanwhile, temple officials added that the process is monitored under CCTV surveillance. They said the work reflects the aspirations and sentiments of devotees.

The gold plating will cover 10,500 square feet of copper sheets on the Vimana Gopuram. The structure rises nearly 48 feet in height. Officials said, “Once completed, this will be the tallest gold-plated Vimana Gopuram, surpassing the Gopuram of Lord Sri Venkateshwara Swamy in Tirumala. The Tirumala Gopuram has three storeys, whereas the Yadagirigutta Temple’s Gopuram has five storeys and stands 48 feet tall.” They added that the final layers will be fixed by February or March.

Meanwhile, several other works in the temple remain incomplete. The Nityannadana satram, taken up with donations worth Rs 11 crore, is still pending. At present, the temple provides Annaprasadam in the Deeksha Mandalam arena. Officials also said that out of the 60 kilograms of gold, 25 kilograms are still stored at the temple while 35 kilograms are in use.

The state government is bearing Rs 8 crore for preparation and fixing charges. Officials expect all works to conclude before Brahmotsavam. They added that proposals are in place for a Vedapathashala on 17 acres at a cost of Rs 43.79 crore. The government plans to acquire 101 acres to set up a hostel. A dormitory hall has already been built on the hill for devotees.
