13 Dead As Saurya Airlines Plane Crashes At Kathmandu Airport
Kathmandu/Hyderabad July 24 (Maxim News): A Saurya Airlines plane headed to Pokhara crashed during takeoff from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday.
The aircraft, carrying 19 people including crew, skidded off the runway around 11 am, according to Tribhuvan International Airport spokesperson Premnath Thakur reported by The Kathmandu Post.
The pilot, Manish Shankya, sustained a head injury and is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital after being rescued. The Nepal Army is leading rescue efforts.

Eyewitnesses reported in The Kathmandu Post that the plane clipped the ground with its wingtip during takeoff, causing it to flip and catch fire before crashing into a gorge near the runway.
Saurya Airlines is a domestic carrier in Nepal known to operate two Bombardier CRJ-200 jets, both roughly 20 years old according to Flight Radar 24.
This incident comes just over a year after a Yeti Airlines plane crash near Pokhara tragically took the lives of 72 people, including five from India. (Maxim News)
