New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, delivering his 11th consecutive Independence Day address from the Red Fort, declared that 140 crore citizens of India are filled with pride today.

“This is the same nation that once faced terrorist attacks. Now, when our armed forces carry out surgical strikes and airstrikes, the youth of the country are brimming with pride. That’s why 140 crore citizens of the country are proud today,” said PM Modi.

He emphasized the ambition and drive of India’s youth, stating, “Our youth do not want to slow down; this is our golden era.”

The Prime Minister highlighted the significant changes in the country, noting, “Earlier, people had to plead with the government for basic amenities, but now they receive them at their doorstep.”

PM Modi expressed confidence in India’s future, saying, “By overcoming all hurdles, we can make India prosperous. We can achieve the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. If 40 crore people could break the shackles of slavery to gain freedom, then with the same spirit, 140 crore people can make India prosperous.”

He also spoke about the success of the “Vocal for Local” initiative, which has become a key driver of the economy. “Every district is now taking pride in its local produce, creating an environment of ‘One District One Product,'” he remarked.

Addressing the government’s reform agenda, PM Modi reassured the nation, stating, “We have undertaken major reforms to improve the lives of the poor, middle class, and the underprivileged. Our commitment to reforms is not just for editorials, praise, or out of compulsion—it is to strengthen the country.”

He concluded by reaffirming the government’s dedication to continuous improvement, saying, “Our commitment to reforms is not for temporary applause or due to pressure, but to empower the nation. Earlier, people wanted change, but their aspirations were ignored; we have brought about significant reforms on the ground.”
