Hyderabad, Dec 31 (Maxim News): Another 200 new gram Panchayats (GPs) are going to be formed in the state. There is a possibility that the list of new Panchayats will be announced before the Panchayat elections and they will go to the polls along with the old ones.

It is reported that most of the new GPs are in agency districts like Adilabad, Asifabad, and Mulugu. Meanwhile, requests have been received from MLAs, Ministers, and MPs to the Panchayat Raj Department for the formation of new Gram Panchayats in the respective districts. Congress MLAs and MPs have put pressure on the government to establish the new GPs by any means, saying that they had given a guarantee before the elections. With this, the Panchayat Raj Department, which took proposals from everyone, has given its okay to form about 200 new Panchayats based on parameters such as population, distance, and other factors. Due to the small population, many proposals have been rejected and information has already been provided to the respective public representatives.
After issuing a special ordinance for the formation of new panchayats and getting the Governor’s approval, the government will issue a gazette notification for the new GPs. Meanwhile, the panchayat elections will be held soon in the state. In this context, the authorities are making arrangements to hold elections for the old GPs as well as the 200 newly formed GPs simultaneously. Wards and voter lists are also being prepared in the new panchayats, if the latest 200 panchayats are formed, the total number of GPs across the state will reach 13,191.

Many villages in the agency area are facing administrative problems due to their being far from Panchayats. The people of Gudalu and Thanda are alleging that they are being neglected in terms of development. They made this same demand before the candidates who came to seek votes in the last assembly elections.
The candidates promised that they would form village panchayats if they came to power. Now that they have the opportunity to keep their promise, they have made proposals to the government. Congress representatives are saying that if panchayats are formed before the elections, it will also bring unity to the party.

Meanwhile, if Gudalu, Thanda, and affiliated villages are formed as new panchayats, the burden of distance will be reduced. There is a possibility of development due to the arrival of special funds from the center and the state.
However, the 350 population limit has become an obstacle for many. The representatives are pressuring the government not to remove a single village from the proposals they have made and to say yes to everything, even if the minimum population limit of 350 is changed if necessary. (Maxim News)
