28 Maoists Killed in Massive Encounter in Karregutta

Hyderabad, April 26 (Maxim News): A massive encounter occurred in Karregutta on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border. There are reports that 28 Maoists have been killed in the firing by the security forces. This has not been officially announced. Under the name of Operation Kagar, CRPF forces have been hunting Maoists in Karregutta for a few months. They have been conducting surveillance with special helicopters.

In this context, on the night of April 25, 2025, the CRPF forces were confronted by Maoists in Karregutta. It is understood that 28 Maoists were killed in the exchange of fire between the two groups. There has been no official statement from the government on the Maoist encounter. Security forces estimate a total of a thousand Maoists in Karregutta.

The Central government, which is determined to end Naxalism in the country by March 2026, has launched Operation Kagar for this. Operation Kagar is underway to eliminate Maoists. In this context, security forces have received information from intelligence sources that there are more than a thousand Naxalites, including key Maoist party leader Hidma, in Karregutta on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.

With this, central and state forces have been combing Karregutta for five days. Security forces have surrounded Karregutta from three sides – Telangana-Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra. Security forces are moving forward, targeting Hidma and some other key leaders. In this sequence, Karregutta is being destroyed by a fierce exchange of fire between the security forces and the Maoists.

It is reported that 28 Naxalites were killed in a fierce gunfight between security forces and Maoists on Saturday (April 26). The authorities and the government have not made any official statement on this. In the wake of the massive encounter, war clouds have loomed over the Karregutta border areas of Chhattisgarh and Telangana. The people of the nearby villages are panicking about what will happen at any moment.

On the other hand, the Maoist party has already issued a letter demanding that the Operation Kagar undertaken by the central and state forces in Karregutta be stopped immediately. They have said that they are ready for peace talks and have appealed to stop Operation Kagar for a month. The security forces, who have ignored the Maoist party’s request, are moving forward in Karregutta to eliminate the Naxalites.  (Maxim News)
