According to sources, the accused Mohammad Fayaz had allegedly travelled from Pakistan to Nepal and then crossed into India without valid documents. He reached Hyderabad and reportedly married the woman without informing authorities of his foreign nationality.

Based on a tip-off, police caught him and were verifying his background, travel history, immigration status and the legality of the marriage. The incident is reminiscent of another one in 2022 when Mohammed Faiz from Pakistan was arrested in Hyderabad after illegally entering through Nepal and living under a fake identity after marrying a local and obtaining an Aadhaar card with help from her family. His in-laws were booked for aiding his illegal stay.
