75 New PG Seats In Government Medical Colleges

Hyderabad, Nov 3 (Maxim News): The National Medical Council (NMC) has decided to allot 75 new PG seats in government medical colleges in the state.  It has issued orders granting new seats in various courses in Osmania medical College and sisx other government colleges.  The NMC has sanctioned 4 seats in the hospital Administration department in Osmania College, 8 seats in Nizamabad Government medical College and four PG seats at Mahabubnagar Government Medical College.

It is noteworthy that a large number of PG seats have been allocated in the newly established Siddipet, Suryapet, Nalgonda and Ramagundam medical colleges.  Admissions for the increased seats will be held from this year itself.  The government hopes that with the increase of 75 seats, the number of specialty doctors in the state will increase and better quality medical services will be provided.  Currently, 2,983 PG medical seats are available in the state.

Out of which 1,472 PG seats are available in government medical colleges, and 75 additional seats will be added to them.  With this, the number of PG seats in government medical colleges will increase to 1,547.  50 percent of them will go under the All India quota, while the remaining 50 percent i.e 773 seats, will be available only to local students from Telangana.  (Maxim News)
