Spicejet gets notice due to Non-Payment of Dues
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has instructed Go First, a leading airline in India, to immediately halt the booking and sale of direct tickets until further notice.
The airline’s sudden cancellation of flights and initiation of the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process have raised concerns.
The concers are about the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of its services.
The DGCA has also issued a Show Cause Notice to the company for its failure to meet regulatory requirements.
Go First Faces Possible Suspension of Air Operators Certificate
Sources have revealed that Go First’s Air Operators Certificate (AOC) could be suspended depending on the response given by the airline to the Show Cause Notice.
Go First had earlier suspended ticket sales until May 15 and cancelled flights until May 12.
The company has filed a petition for insolvency before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and is seeking an early hearing on the matter.
SpiceJet Faces Notice on Non-Payment of Dues
In a separate development, the NCLT has issued a notice to SpiceJet, another leading airline in India, in response to a plea by aircraft leasing company Aircastle claiming non-payment of dues.
SpiceJet’s creditor company Aircastle has filed an application to initiate insolvency proceedings against the airline, along with Willis Lease Finance Corporation and Acres Buildwell Pvt Ltd.
SpiceJet has not yet released any statement regarding the matter but has reassured passengers that their flights will not be affected by the hearing.
