Hyderabad: Young Woman Killed For Rejecting Marriage Proposal

A man has allegedly slit the throat of a 22-year-old software engineer after she rejected his marriage proposal. The woman was hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident occurred in Hyderabad on Tuesday night in Puppalaguda under the limits of Narsingi police station.

According to media, the man named Ganesh who works as a food delivery boy, wanted to marry the victim, who also happens to be his relative. However, the woman, who hailed from Piduguralla in the Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh, rejected his proposal. The woman worked in Hyderabad and lives in a hostel in the Gachibowli area.

On Tuesday night, Ganesh went to the hostel and took her to a place near the T-Grill Hotel in Puppalaguda, reported the media. When he put forward his marriage proposal, she rejected it.

This argument quickly escalated and Ganesh then took out a knife that he had been carrying in his bag and attacked her. The woman suffered stab wounds on her neck, face and hands.

A passerby was alerted and dialed 100 following which the police rushed to the spot. The woman was quickly moved to a hospital and Ganesh was arrested on the spot. Further investigation is underway into the matter.

The case has some similarity to a case that occurred last year when a woman was stabbed to death by her stalker in a busy Hyderabad locality in broad daylight. According to the media, the victim was attacked by the man for allegedly rejecting his marriage proposal. The woman, Noor Banu, who lost her husband was stalked and harrassed by a man named Habeeb.

According to the media, the stabbing was caught on CCTV. The victim was crossing the street when the accused attacked her from behind and no one intervened to help her, the report stated.
