Hyderabad, July 18: Hyderabad could emerge as a key hub in South India’s proposed high speed rail network, with the Centre planning a Hyderabad Amaravati bullet train corridor that could reduce travel time between the two capitals to just 70 minutes.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently outlined the proposal as part of an ambitious plan to expand high speed rail connectivity across southern India.
According to the proposal, the Hyderabad Amaravati bullet train corridor is expected to improve passenger mobility while strengthening business, investment and economic ties between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The Minister said the project is targeted for completion within seven to eight years, subject to statutory approvals, funding and project execution.
The proposed corridor will be part of a larger high speed rail network connecting Hyderabad, Amaravati, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai, creating a major economic corridor across southern India.
For Hyderabad, the project is expected to boost trade, tourism and regional development while improving connectivity with neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
However, the proposal remains at the planning stage. The final route alignment, station locations and implementation schedule will be decided after detailed feasibility studies and the required approvals. (Maxim News)
