Hyderabad: The roadshow for HIPLEX 2026, India’s third largest plastics exhibition, was held at ITC Kakatiya on Saturday, building momentum for the four-day international plastics expo scheduled from August 7 to 10 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad.
The roadshow was inaugurated by Dhannarapu Srinivas Gupta, Superintendent of Police, Vigilance & Enforcement.
Organised by the Telangana and Andhra Plastics Manufacturers Association (TAAPMA), HIPLEX 2026 is being supported by the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, the Government of Telangana, CIPET, and other industry partners.
HIPLEX 2026 to Showcase Innovation and Sustainable Plastics
More than 500 exhibitors and over 50,000 business visitors from India and abroad are expected to participate in the exhibition, making it one of the country’s largest platforms for the plastics manufacturing industry.
The event, themed “The Rise of Atmanirbhar & Viksit Bharat in Amrit Kaal: Invest to Transform,” will showcase advanced machinery, raw materials, processing technologies, automation, recycling solutions, sustainability initiatives and finished products across the plastics value chain.
Addressing the gathering, Dhannarapu Srinivas Gupta said plastics should not be viewed only as a source of pollution, as they play a vital role in healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, packaging and manufacturing.
He said the focus should be on responsible usage, scientific waste management and recycling to build a sustainable circular economy.
Highlighting the industry’s contribution, he said nearly 40,000 manufacturing units in India provide employment to around 18 lakh people, making plastics one of the country’s major employment-generating sectors.
Speaking at the event, Meela Jayadev, Convener of HIPLEX 2026, said the plastics industry continues to be a key driver of India’s manufacturing growth. He added that Telangana’s strong industrial ecosystem, skilled workforce and rapid economic growth make Hyderabad an ideal destination for the international exhibition.
He noted that the previous edition of HIPLEX in 2023 featured 480 exhibitors, attracted more than 41,600 business visitors, and occupied 17,000 square metres of exhibition space. The 2026 edition has been expanded to 26,000 square metres, making it the largest in the event’s history.
Narendra Baldwa, President of TAAPMA, described HIPLEX 2026 as more than an exhibition, saying it will serve as a platform for innovation, investment, sustainability and business collaborations while supporting India’s transition towards a circular economy and self-reliance.
One of the major attractions will be the Recycling Pavilion, where visitors can see how 25 discarded plastic bottles can be transformed into a T-shirt. The pavilion will also showcase innovative recycled plastic products, including plastic roads, railway sleepers, bricks, benches, bus shelters and houses.
The exhibition will feature live demonstrations of plastics processing machinery, business networking sessions, investment opportunities, technology partnerships and knowledge-sharing programmes.
Participants will represent sectors including packaging, automotive, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, consumer goods and industrial manufacturing.
The organisers said HIPLEX 2026 is expected to generate significant business opportunities, promote technology adoption and strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a leading hub for India’s plastics and polymer industry.
