Lieutenant General JS Sidana Inaugurates Secunderabad Club Youth Regatta

Hyderabad: Lieutenant General JS Sidana, the Commandant of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) formally inaugurated Secunderabad Club Youth Regatta at Sailing Annexe on Tuesday.

President, Secunderabad Club, Mr. Raghuram Reddy; Vice President, Secunderabad Club, Mr. Sharath Choudhary, Managing Committee Sports Sunil Bantia; Commodore Sailing Club Arjun Pradipak; Joint Secretary YAI, Capt. Jitendra Dikshit; Chairman of the protest Committee Col. Deepak Dikhit; Principal Race Officer Mr. ML Sharma and Head of Technical Committee Col. Vivek Ahlawat graced the inaugural function.

The Six Day Secunderabad Club Youth Regatta began with Principal Race Officer Commodore ML Sharma and his team checking measurements and practice matches. The races will begin on the 13th. It will go on till 15th July. It will have four classes–01. ILCA 4. 02.29er class 03. Optimist main/green and 04. First-time Open 420 event is happening to encourage youngsters, participants can be boy/boy, Girl/girl, and mixed (1 boy& 1 girl) disclosed Arjun Pradipak, Aswin Nandan Singh, and Vikrant Boorugu, the organizing team in a press note issued in the city today.

Each day will have two sessions morning (8.30 am to 12.30 pm) and afternoon (1.30 pm to 4.30 pm).

Sixty entries are received from across India. Some of the participants or representation organizations include: Army Yachting Navy Mumbai, INWTC Navy Mumbai, Trishna sailing club Army Mysore, Mysore Army Sports, National Sailing School, Bhopal; New Boys School, Goa; Yacht Club of Hyderabad; Secunderabad Sailing Club and others

Shagun from NSS Bhopal who tamed winds on her way to a top position in girls is hopeful of good monsoon winds. The lake is picturesque with more iconic structures. It is always a pleasure to sail in Hussain Sagar Lake. I look forward to challenging races, she said.

For the first time, a male and female jury has equal participation.

The Regatta is being organized by Secunderabad Club, one of the oldest sailing clubs in India. The Secunderabad Club is probably one of the few Clubs in the world which has its own Sailing Annexe overlooking the vast and picturesque Hussain Sagar Lake. The Sailing Annexe is especially devoted to the activity of sailing and Water Sports. It is one of the oldest sailing clubs in the country with a history nearing 150 years.
