Three Arrested For Cheating In Qurbani Share Delivery On Bakrid Festival

Hyderabad, July 3 (Maxim News): The Habeeb Nagar Police, Asif Nagar Division, South West Zone, Hyderabad, arrested three individuals involved in cheating innocent people under the pretense of delivering Qurbani shares (Hissas) for the Bakrid festival.

Three Arrested for Cheating

The three who were arrested are A1: Mohd Nascer, 30, LED Worker,  Chandulal Baradari, Bahadurpura, A2: Mohd Zafar Ahmed, 29, Private Employee, and A3: Mohd Ashfaq, 27, Cab Driver, both resident of P&T Colony, Suncity, Bandlaguda Jagir. and seized from them cash Rs. 23,00,000/- One Lenovo Thinkpad 15 Laptop (Black) One Kingston 64 GB Pen Drive and Three Mobile PhonesAddressing Media DCP South West Zone D. Uday Kumar Reddy said that the case was registered under Cr. No: 234/2024 U/s 406, 420, 467, 468, 471 r/w 34 IPC, Sec 66 D of IT Act & Sec 5 of the Telangana Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act 1999.

Bakrid Festival

On 17.06.2024, Abdul Bari Rehan, a businessman from Shanthinagar, filed a complaint stating he had paid Rs. 28,000 for ten Qurbani shares (Hissas) to Khidmath Foundation.

Despite assurances, the shares were not delivered, and multiple attempts to contact the foundation were unsuccessful. Upon visiting the foundation, Rehan discovered numerous others had been similarly defrauded. Nisar Ahmed, the founder, had gained the community’s trust over several years, collecting significant amounts of money from over 100 members before absconding.

The accused created a fake app under the name Khidmath Foundation in 2024, promising to deliver Qurbani shares on Bakrid. They collected large sums via G-pay, PhonePe, and cash through agents at various locations in the city. Despite collecting payments from 1,049 customers for 2,179 shares, they only delivered 500 shares, leaving the majority defrauded.

Qurbani Share

The accused were apprehended by Inspector T. Ram Babu, SI K. Shiva Kumar, SI Sandeep, WPC A. Anusha, and crime staff members D. Srikanth, Ahmedullah Shah Quadri, T. Prashanth of Habeeb Nagar Police Station, and CDR Team members Md Amir Shareef and Dinesh Kumar. The operation was conducted under the supervision of D. Uday Kumar Reddy, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, South West Zone, and Additional DCP Mohd. Ashwag, with directions from Asst. Commissioner of Police Syed Fiaz, Golconda Division I/c Asif Nagar Division, Hyderabad City.
