Inflows exceeding 19,686 cusecs have pushed the Kadem reservoir in Nirmal district close to its full capacity. Similar concerns loom over the Nizamsagar project in Kamareddy, where water levels are rapidly rising.

The Godavari River poses a significant threat. Water levels at Bhadrachalam have reached 38 feet and are expected to rise further, potentially reaching 40 feet by evening. Authorities have issued advisories urging residents and machinery operators to remain vigilant.

The relentless downpour has caused significant disruption to the coal industry. Inflow of rainwater into opencast mines in Bhadradri district has forced a complete halt to coal production, potentially impacting power generation in the region.

The overflowing Godavari River has breached its banks and inundated the national highway in Mulugu district, raising fears of widespread flooding.

To manage the heavy water influx, authorities have opened 85 gates at the Medigadda barrage of the Kaleswaram project, releasing excess water downstream.

The coming hours are crucial in mitigating the impact of the floods and ensuring the safety of residents and infrastructure. (Maxim News)
