KTR Questions Rahul Gandhi On Congress Double Standards On The Adani Issue

Hyderabad, Dec 19 (Maxim News): BRS Working President K. Tarak Rama Rao questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the double standards of the Congress regarding industrialist Gautam Adani. He pointed out the glaring contradictions between the Congress national rhetoric on fighting against Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the actions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Telangana who rolled out the red carpet for the Adani Group. He challenged the Congress leader to clarify his stance on the issue.

In his missive to Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, KTR ridiculed the TPCC ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan‘ program on Wednesday, part of the AICC nationwide campaign against alleged corruption involving Adani. He questioned the credibility of the Congress campaign against the corruption of Adani and the Union government, even as Revanth Reddy had not only welcomed Adani to Telangana but facilitated investments and projects including major deals involving several thousand crores of rupees for the Adani Group at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January this year.

He stated that plans were underway to privatize the electricity bill collection project in Telangana by handing it over to Adani. “This cozy relationship raises serious questions about your party’s commitment to the very cause you claim to champion, ” he said.

The BRS working president raised concerns about a purported Rs. 100 crore donation made by Gautam Adani to Revanth Reddy, which was allegedly returned only after the BRS exposed the transaction.  Calling it a “textbook case of quid pro quo,”  he asked,  “Is this the Congress party’s idea of fighting corruption m- taking donations behind closed doors and returning them only when caught red-handed?  If your party is truly fighting against crony capitalism and corruption, why accept such massive donations?”

KTR went on to castigate the Congress for its duplicity, with Cabinet Ministers like Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy engaging in alleged land deals with Adani Group representatives in Hyderabad.  He described these actions as “reeking of backroom dealings” that contradict the party’s public stance against corruption and crony capitalism.

“While you call Adani a symbol of corruption and term him as Modi’s crony capitalist, your Chief Minister and Ministers in Telangana embrace him with open arms.  Is the Congress party truly fighting against Adani or merely using this issue to mislead the people of India?” he asked.

The former Minister demanded Rahul Gandhi come out clean and clarify his stance on the alleged contradictions within his party.  He asked whether Revanth Reddy is working for the Congress party or acting as a proxy for the BJP and its corporate allies.  “Telangana deserves an answer,” he asserted.

He criticized the Congress anti-Adani campaign as a political farce and warned that the people of Telangana would not tolerate such hypocrisy any longer.  “Will you question your own Chief Minister on his ‘dosti’ with Adani, or will you remain silent to protect his vested interests?”  he asked.
