Kavitha’s Bail Hearing In The Liquor Scam Adjourned To Aug 5

Delhi/Hyderabad, July 22 (Maxim News): The hearing on default bail filed by the BRS MLC K. Kavitha in the Delhi Liquor Scam case has been postponed once again. On Monday, Kavitha’s bail petition was heard in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court, the court adjourned it to August 5.

On July 8, Kavitha’s lawyers filed a petition arguing that the CBI had failed to file a full charge sheet within the stipulated 60-day deadline. The court was told that the CBI illegally arrested Kavitha on April 11, 2024. Kavitha’s lawyers told the court that the CBI had filed an incomplete charge sheet on June 7. The court also said that there were errors in the CBI charge sheet.

According to CrPC 167(2), Kavitha has the right to get default bail. In a case punishable by seven years, custody is only possible upto 60 days. Kavitha’s 86 days of custody were completed by July 6 when they filed the default bail petition in the Delhi court. Arguments have been heard in the past. Today, when the petition was heard once again, the court adjourned it to August 5.

Meanwhile, Kavitha, who was arrested in the Delhi Liquor Scam, has been in Tihar Jail for almost four months. CBI and ED have registered cases in the Delhi Liquor Scam case and have taken Kavitha into custody. But Kavitha has been working hard for bail ever since her arrest. Kavitha’s lawyers have petitioned Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court to grant bail many times. It has become common for her to defy the court. Because of this, Kavitha has been living in jail for the past few months.

Recently, the lawyers on behalf of Kavitha asked to grant default bail by incorporating the crucial point in the bail petition.  Kavitha’s lawyers filed a petition in the court claiming that the CBI failed to file a full charge sheet. Within the stipulated 60-day deadline. The Delhi court heard the petition and adjourned it once again. Kavitha had to remain in Jail for some time.  (Maxim News)
