Jaishankar informed political party leaders in Parliament House that India has communicated with the Bangladesh Army Chief to ensure the safety of over 10,000 Indian students in Bangladesh.

Addressing Concerns and Speculations

In response to questions from various leaders, including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Jaishankar did not rule out the possibility of foreign governments being involved in the unrest in Bangladesh. Jaishankar posted on X (formerly Twitter) after the meeting, stating, “Briefed an All-Party meeting in Parliament today about the ongoing developments in Bangladesh. Appreciate the unanimous support and understanding that was extended.”

Congress leader Karti Chidambaram also conveyed the party’s support for the government’s stance on national security and national interest, though he was not present at the meeting.
