As per Karnataka Government Directives, only Nandi Ghee produced by Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) should be used for temple rituals like the lighting lamps, and preparation of prasadam and Dosoho buildings in all government-owned temples. An official circular has been issued by the temple staff to ensure that the quality of food and prasad to the devotees is never compromised.

Recently, a controversy erupted when AP CM Chandrababu Naidu expressed concern over the quality of ghee used in the TTD temple. There were reports that ghee was adulterated in the samples. The Tirupati Devasthanam kitchen, which makes about 3 lakh laddoos daily, uses 15,000 kg of essential items like ghee, cashews, raisins, cardamom, groundnuts, and sugar. The controversial ghee seems to have come from Dindigul district in Tamil Nadu.  (Maxim News)
