According to reports, women had gathered in large numbers to celebrate bathukamma in the village. They danced in unison and in sync with the songs being played through a sound system. Irked over the loud music, Krishna, a resident of the village, demanded the women to turn off the sound system, according to reports.

Despite the women requesting Krishna that the festivities would be completed in a few minutes and the sound system would be turned off, he insisted that the celebrations be stopped immediately. As a heated argument took place between the women and Krishna, an army jawan, Munivardhan, tried to control the situation and pleaded with the women and Krishna not to argue.
