Liquor Sales Surge To Rs. 1,100 Crore In Telangana During Dussehra Festival

Hyderabad, Oct 14 (Maxim News): In Telangana, the Dussehra festival is not complete without mutka and sukka. Every year during Bathukamma and dussehra, sales of liquor in the state increased hugely. This time too, the drug addicts continued the same trend and set a huge record. In just 10 days, more than Rs. 1,100 crores of liquor were consumed.

Excise officials say that liquor sales worth one thousand crores were done in ten days. Along with bars and liquor stores, sales also increased in pubs. As a result, alcohol brought huge revenue to the government treasury. As always, Hyderabad is at the top in liquor sales.

There are 2,260 liquor shops, 1,171 bars and restaurants in the state. Along with these, the sale of liquor is also going on in the pubs. Every year during Dussehra, liquor is sold in large quantities in Telangana.

This time, with the same estimate, the Excise Department has prepared large stocks of liquor in advance. As the orders were also higher than expected, the state government’s coffers rained money. Bars also keep enough stock available. The liquor kick that started before Dussehra reached its peak on Saturday and Sunday.

Excise officials say that 10,44 lakh cases of liquor worth Rs. 1,100 crore were sold from the beginning of October to October 11 while 2,838 crores were sold till September 30. 17.59 lakh beers were sold within 10 days. In terms of liquor sales, Ranga Reddy is the top district while Karimnagar, Nalgonda, and Warangal districts are in the next three Positions.

Liquor sales in joint Rangareddy districts have provided huge revenue to the government. Compared to October 1 to 10 last year, the sales for ten days at the same time this year have decreased slightly.
Officials say that there are 674 liquor shops in Greater Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Medchal, Malkajgiri, Shamshabad, Saroornagar, and Vikarabad districts and in 2023, an income of Rs. 317.21 crores has been collected from the sale of liquor.

At present only Rs. 312 crores have come to the treasury. it is noteworthy that the excise revenue has decreased by Rs. 5.18 crore compared to the previous year. (Maxim News)
