Wild Animal Transport Lorry Overturns In Nirmal, All Animals Rescued

Nirmal: A vehicle transporting wild animals from Bihar’s Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park to Bengaluru’s Bannerghatta Biological Park overturned near Mondigutta village in Nirmal district on Wednesday. Despite the accident, all the animals were safely rescued, though two crocodiles briefly escaped.

The lorry, carrying eight crocodiles and other rare species, including two white elephants, lost control and crashed into cement pillars on NH-44 around 1:00 PM. Local authorities sprang into action as the accident caused the vehicle to flip, putting the animals at risk.

Superintendent of Police Janaki Sharmila, who oversaw the operation, confirmed, “Two crocodiles managed to escape after the accident, but our team quickly captured them without incident. The other six crocodiles and two white elephants remained secured in the vehicle.”

Forest officials, working alongside local police, swiftly secured the area to prevent further risks. Another vehicle was arranged to continue transporting the animals to Bengaluru.
