Governor Chairs Fourth State Managing Committee Meeting

The 4th Meeting of State Managing Committee for Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, Telangana State was held at Raj Bhavan under the Chairmanship of Jishnu dev Varma, Governor, and Chairman State Managing Committee, attended by Ramakrishna Rao, Special CS Finance, Ravi Gupta, Special CS, Home, K Surendra Mohan, IAS,  Secretary, Maj Gen Rakesh Manocha SM VSM, GOC, TASA, Maj Gen N Srinivas Rao (retd), Brig P Ganesham VSM (retd), Lieutenant Commander B Aishwarya (retd), Nausena Medal, Major C Bharat (retd), Sena Medal, Col Bharat Yadav, Rep of Ministry of Defence,  AK Dhar, Representative of Kendriya Sainik Board, New Delhi and Anudeep, Collector Hyderabad.

Col P Ramesh Kumar (retd), Director Sainik Welfare and Secretary Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, Telangana State gave a detailed briefing on the state of the Fund, various schemes, salient activities of Sainik Welfare Department, and details of beneficiaries of various schemes provided out of the fund. He has thanked all Gazetted and Non-Gazetted employees, Class IV Employees, Drivers and Teachers of the Government of Telangana, and the employees of the State Bank of India for their generous contribution to the fund every year.

The Committee has approved the following schemes:

a) Approved Immediate financial assistance of Rs 2 Lakhs to the widows of Ex-Servicemen having one dependent child below 25 years of age and Rs  3 Lakhs to the widows of Ex-Servicemen having two dependent children below 25 Years of age.

b) Extended the financial assistance of Rs 3 Lakhs to the parents of unmarried, Rs 2.5 Lakhs to parents of married soldiers, and Rs 3 Lakhs to the wives of married soldiers who died during service

c) Enhanced marriage grant for Girl Children of Ex-Servicemen from Rs 40,000/ to Rs. 50,000/ and renamed it as “ Kalyana Kanuka”.

d) Enhanced financial assistance to 100% Disabled Soldiers from Rs 12,000/ p.m. to Rs 15,000/ p.m.

e)  Enhanced financial assistance to  Special Children of Ex-Servicemen below 15 years of age from Rs 3,000/ to 6,000/ p.m. and Special Children of Ex-Servicemen above 15 Years of age to Rs 9,000/ p.m.

f) Enhanced the financial assistance for Orphan Children from Rs 2,000/ p.m. to Rs 5,000/ p.m.

g) Enhanced Hostel fee reimbursement from Rs 10,000/ p.a. to Rs 20,000/ p.a. to Children of Ex-Servicemen studying Class 11 and above and staying in Hostels run by Colleges only.

h) Enhanced Funeral grant on the death of Ex-Serviceman from Rs 10,000/  to Rs 20,000/. 

i) Approved reimbursement of Rs 40,000/ to children of Ex-Servicemen for the purchase of Computers during the first year of a Degree course.

j) Approved financial assistance upto Rs 2 Lakhs for organ transplantation at ECHS empanelled hospitals, if the amount is not completely reimbursed by ECHS.

k)  Approved Cash Incentive for medals won by Ex-Servicemen/ their Children in Sports Events organized by the Government of India/State Government. Gold (Rs 1 Lac)/Silver(Rs 75,000/)/Bronze Medal(Rs 50,000/)

l) Sanctioned Rs 40 Lakhs for the renovation of Sainik Bhavans at Karimnagar & Warangal.

m) The committee has approved the establishment of a Helpline for the Sainik Welfare Department to be manned by Three Ex-Servicemen/Widows of Ex-Servicemen.

n) The Committee has approved the conduct of camps throughout the state to enhance awareness about the schemes among ex-servicemen and their families.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor emphasized the need to look after the ex-servicemen and their families who gave the best of their youth for the Nation.  He has stressed the need for identifying and reaching out to every ex-serviceman and widows of Ex-Servicemen who are in distress, understand their problems, and resolve them at the earliest time frame. He stated that Telangana State has become a role model for the rest of the country by introducing innovative schemes, digitizing the records of all Ex-Servicemen, processing applications for various schemes online, and transferring the amounts to the beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer system in a meticulous fashion.

Hon’ble Governor conveyed his since gratitude to all the donors for their generous voluntary contribution with special reference to all the employees of the Government of Telangana and the State Bank of India. He has appealed to all the citizens and corporates to come forward and contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.
